Anonymous NFL Player Admits to Crying on the Field Due to Pain. Says Others Do Too

Location undisclosed — A former NFL player who has chosen to remain anonymous admitted to crying on the field due to pain on numerous occasions and said that other players regularly do as well.

“Players cry all the time” stated the NFL veteran who retired after the 2015 season. “People just have no idea what we put our bodies through man. And sometimes the only way to deal with all that pain is to just let out a little cry.”

When asked why player crying has rarely if ever been documented during NFL games, the player went on to explain “Listen, it’s. not like players are out there bawling and (expletive). That only happens for times of joy, like when you win the Super Bowl. No the reason why nobody knows about this is because how good players have become at concealing it.”

The player, who during his over decade-long career endured 6 major surgeries went on to explain “We’ve been taking hits since we were kids, and back then some of us did cry; tears, moaning, the whole thing. But once you got to High School and especially College, that’s when you learned to cry without showing it.”

“We got a name for it too; we call it ‘Man crying.’ Like when the pain is unbearable , but you go into this like zen, poker face mode. Some guys say it isn’t crying, but their full of (excrement). It takes practice. It’s all about controlling your breathing. At least, that’s what helped me.”

“I mean have you seen it when a guy goes over the middle and gets totally‘blown up’?” he asked. “Well as he’s lying there in excruciating pain, I can guarantee you he’s crying his ass off. Why do you think they sometimes even hide their faces?”

When asked if some players cried more often than others, the retired defensive player lit up. “Oh hell ya. You want a tip on this?” he asked smiling. “Just look for the players who wear those dark face shields. Total criers. They have NFL talent but with low pain thresholds. And ironically, I respect them the most because they don’t let that (excrement) stop them, you know?”

“This is like the most well kept secret in all of sports in my opinion” he went on to assert. “Even the few close friends I’ve told over the years think I’m putting them on, but crying in the NFL is totally real. Just don’t be surprised if no one else fesses up about it though.”
